NYC Ensemble Prinkipo Brings Mediterranean Folk Music to Schoharie County This July

We're thrilled to welcome Prinkipo, a NYC-based five-piece ensemble dedicated to preserving and presenting folk and traditional music from the Mediterranean, Turkey, Greece, and the Balkans, to Schoharie County this July.

Supported by a New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) grant, Prinkipo will perform at venues across the county, sharing the songs, stories, and instruments of the Eastern Mediterranean with our community.

Our own event with them takes place:
📅 Saturday, July 11 | 12:30–2:00 PM
📍 287 Main Coworking & Gallery, 287 Main St, Schoharie NY

This will be an interactive, family-friendly performance where Prinkipo engages the audience directly and teaches about the traditional instruments featured in their music.

In their own words:
"Our ensemble includes myself on vocals, Fuat Tokgözol on oud, Grammy Award winner Gilbert Mansour on percussion, Sal Mamudoski on clarinet, and Bashar Farran on bass. We are all professional musicians, and each of us has spent many years studying, performing, and presenting our music. We are fortunate to be recognized within our respective musical communities, and we have all received formal music education. Beyond performing, we are also educators and teaching artists."

Additional tour stops include:
Sun, July 12 | 4:00 PM — Middleburgh Library, 323 Main St
Mon, July 13 | 11:00 AM — Sharon Springs Central School, 514 US-20
Tue, July 14 | 1:00 PM — Community Library of Cobleskill, 110 Union St

Whether you love music or are simply curious about different cultures, come spend an afternoon with us! We can't wait to meet you, share this music, and learn about our community. 🎶
